Yoga

You may recognize many yoga postures throughout the course! Ashtanga, Hatha, and Thai styles of yoga provide the foundational positions for our specific joint mobilization.

Yoga postures were designed to keep the body moving in a way that promotes and maintains physical health. This is how we will practice - with the quintessential even-tempered attitude of a yogic practice - in other words, by breathing, staying calm, and proceeding with self-awareness.

Mobility

In this context, Mobility = strength + range of motion.

This training is tissue-specific, which means that we will focus on how the movements feel in our joints and surrounding soft tissue more than the shapes our bodies are making.

Try not to worry about the degree of range (aka how "deep" the stretch looks) - rather, focus on the feelings and sensations as you move.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness, put simply, is awareness.

Non-judging, accepting awareness.

As we move through our mobility stretches and exercises, we will aim to practice mindful awareness - of our bodies, movements, thoughts, and emotions.

Try to recognize and allow whatever rises, whatever occurs.

Then, later, you can investigate (imagine why you experienced what you did... typically, relating to your unique history and lived experience) and then nurture yourself (practice holding yourself in a loving and kind attitude).
